Decroux

What is Theatre Anthropology?

Developed by Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba, and other collaborators, it explores an organic study of an actor's expression: the human behavior in its condition metaquotidian. Corporeal movement searches for its interior source, the impulses that give birth to its immanence. There are a series of exercizes created to explore the fluidity of these impulses.

The Art of Mime

"Decroux once said that the technique was the ethic and vice versa. " -Eugenio Barba

What is Corporeal Mime?

Created by Etienne Decroux, the technique empowers the actor as a creator. It teaches the isolation of movement of the different parts of the body, and the composition and its infinite possibilities; playing with dynamo-rhythm; and, finally the transmission of a specific vocabulary that permits the personal expression and creation of each actor/dancer.
